What’s Missing?

Sometimes we feel pressed. Sometimes beyond what we feel comfortable accepting. Sometimes we buckle, crumble and even give up. Yet things will change. They will either get better or they will get worse. They seldom stay the same for long.

We can be intensely passionate about something we truly believe is significant and later discover our attention has waned. Sometime we struggle to hold on to it because we have publicly avowed our allegiance.  But if it is just a passing fancy then it falls by the wayside to be replaced with thoughts and energies in another cause. 

If however the thing we profess is as important to us as we have indicated, we will return to it. Publicly or privately it will consume us. It will match our breath and our heartbeat to became our very reason for living. For me it is Jesus. I can look to so many other things in my life and see regardless of where I may stray for a time, I am forever intertwined in Christ. I am not pro Christ, I am Christ’s. I belong to Him for He has paid a high price for my love and allegiance. He sought me when I did not know Him. He allowed me to be infatuated with so many others so I might see their dullness and weakness when compared to Him.

And I do stray. I tend to fill my life, my time, with things and events and people which are entertaining and worthy in their own sphere but they cannot for one moment be what Jesus the Christ is in me. I don’t need to be distracted by them but I choose to be. I am the failure that I am by the grace of Him who loves me. I am useable for His purpose just as I am or as He is molding me. I want to be passionate about Jesus and anything which communicates His love to others as long as they don’t get first billing. I am His; now and forever. When I succeed and when I fail it is by His measure that I do so. I pray this is a truth you know as well. I pray for your success to exceed my success by His measure. I pray I’ll stay on course also.
