Hospital Stay

I layed down in bed and rested a while
Felt good to have my head on that pile
But enough is enough, I’ve got to get up
And walk down the hall to fill up my cup
Or there’s the choice to show off a bit
By racing past those who can only sit
Or maybe just stand and let it flow
Trying to remember should I come or go
Then comes the voice”Why are you outta bed?”
If she were a hunter this deer would be dead
Still I know that whether I rejoice or cry
My care does not escape her faithful eye
It’s true I’ll be better when I leave this place
But honestly I’ll miss the smiles on their face
As they watched my squeaky wheels give chase
Thinking “Lord, if there’s more of him, give us grace”
