Some of the best people I know, I was born to know. I appreciate the grace and beauty and character of many of my family. I am so grateful that I was born in the family I am. Not just the Mother and father and siblings but the extended family as well. The talent and abilities of my children and even my grandchildren thrills me.
Some of the best people I know I have met at school, and at work. It is so encouraging to be surrounded by confident giving caring people. So many are selfless and concerned with being the best they are able to be so they can help others who are struggling at the moment. They are like wells of kindness waiting to be drawn from to satisfy the thirsty needs of others. They are the ones who help with homework, spend a little more time on the practice field or are willing to train someone else even though it isn’t their job to do so. Some of the best people I know I have met in the regular excursions in my daily life. I find them in the grocery store, at the hospital, restaurant, even in traffic.
Nice people, doing good things for themselves, their families, their friends even for folks they don’t know. Just as kind, just as pleasant, just as considerate as the ones I love, close to me Some of the best people I know I have met in church. They are people who want the very best for you, people who smile every time they see you, who always have a kind word of encouragement, who acknowledge who you are and not just for the value you bring to them. They give graciously of their time, their talent, even their finances, to help others, even those who “don’t get it”.
All of these folks would probably say that their motivation for their manner of living and kindness to others is love. There is an innate desire built within most people to express the compassion and grace they wish to receive. All normal, well adjusted, mentally stable people thrive on giving and receiving love. Because of personalities and environments we express it mentally and physically in different ways. The means may vary but the result is the same, love abounds.
Some folks will tell you that their love springs from their positive belief in the goodness of mankind as a whole. Some perhaps have a belief that like begets like and so their giving in love will ultimately result in receiving the same. Others ascribe their source as being of a spiritual nature in the sense that there is a higher power which oversees our affairs and rewards us as we are due for our efforts. And then I have met those who claim their source of love is the creator of the universe.
