Dishes

My dishes are getting older

There are stains and cracks which show

The once sparkling newness is missing

And some dulling scratches are now in tow

They have shined and served so well

But have lost some youthful glow

Still they reflect a truth of life

That God wants each of us to know

That when we’re found beyond repair

From this life of toil we’ll be let go
