What ever Happened to:
Absolutes – Absolutes are those irrefutable evidences which are truth whether we understand and accept them or not. An absolute is something that is conceived (not in the mind of man but in the creation of it’s existence) to be absolute; something that does not depends on anything else and is beyond human control
Deuteronomy 6:4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: Psalms 119:89 For ever, O LORD, your word is settled in heaven. Exodus 20:3 You shall have no other gods before me. Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment, Isaiah 46:9 Remember former things from forever; for I am God, and no other is God, even none like Me, Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no other One; for there is no other name under Heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
Absolute values – Values are the beliefs of a person or social group in which they have an emotional investment either for or against something). Absolute values are a rare commodity in these last days. Most societal influences will affirm values change with the whim of the beholder. The scriptures declare God is absolutely right and there is no other. When we truly settle this idea in our hearts, we will cease to argue with Him when our sin is shown to us. We will agree right is right and sin is sin. God gives us absolutely correct moral values.
Exodus 20:13 You shall not kill. Exodus 20:14 You shall not commit adultery. Exodus 20:15 You shall not steal. Exodus 20:16 You shall not bear false witness Exodus 20:17 You shall not covet Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever.Abiding in Christ – Living for Jesus every day and in every way seems such a trite and simplistic way of presenting this. Yet it is the most direct way to address it. If He is not in us and we are not in Him then we are of all men most miserable and without hope. Abiding carries a very real sense of remaining. Remaining when others have gone on to the latest fad or trend; remaining faithful in Christ and His values.
John 15:7 if you abide in me, and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will and it shall be done unto you. 2John 1:9 Everyone transgressing and not abiding in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ, he has both the Father and the Son.Afflictions for His sake – A soldier understands the cost of representing his country. It costs something to be identified with the values and goals of their nation. It may even involve a state of great suffering and distress due to personal adversity. But when it is for His sake and allows others to see Christ in us, the hope of glory.
Philippians 3:8 But no, rather, I also count all things to be loss for the Excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them to be dung, so that I may win Christ Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 2Timothy 2:10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 2Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.Ambassadors for Christ – An ambassador is a diplomat of the highest rank; accredited as representative or messenger for the royal king; to present His country to strangers and even those who oppose (often in ignorance) Him. A good ambassador is of great value to such a King.
Proverbs 13:17 A wicked messenger falls into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health. 2Corinthians 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be you reconciled to God. Ephesians 6:19 And pray for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 6:20 for which I am an ambassador in bonds; so that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.Assurance – That which goes beyond knowing with certainty; assurance allows NO room for doubt. It is a forever secure thing with full understanding and full faith. Assurance comes from the total trust in that which cannot be changed
Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. Colossians 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 2Timothy 3:14 But continue in the things that you have learned and have been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever.
