Obedience Wherein can we please our earthly parents more than by simply accomplishing what they desire? How much more then with the Lord? The word surrender is not found in the Scriptures. The concept of surrender is derived from a willing obedience to the written Word of God and His known will rather than striking out on a course of your own self indulgence.
Job 36:11 If they obey and serve [him], they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.
1Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
Hebrews 5:9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
Owing Christ everything _ Jesus paid it all. All to Him I owe. Sin had left its crimson stain. He washed it white as snow. Is there anything I am, I own, I desire which is not due Him as an offering of gratitude? What I am become for good is solely by His goodness. The evil which I have done is reason and purpose of His sacrifice.
1Corinthians 4:7 For who makes thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? Now if you did receive it, why do you glory, as if you had not received it?
Hebrews 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Ownership We like to think that we are free to declare our own destiny. However the Scripture is clear, we belong to Him who has paid it all. Or else we are owned by the sin we refuse to reject in order to gain Him. A servant is owned by the things he loves, by the master he serves.
1Corinthians 6:20 For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1Corinthians 7:23 You are bought with a price; be not you the servants of men.
John 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin.
