The “S” Things of God

Sovereignty  Great and mighty is the Lord our God. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. There is none beside Him. He is the almighty potentate. There is no limit to that over which He has authority. There is no limit to the authority which He has over it. He is sufficient within Himself and all other existence is totally dependent upon Him.

Psalms 48:1    Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

Isaiah 44:6   Thus says the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

Isaiah 45:5   I am Jehovah, and there is none else, no God besides Me; I clothed you, though you have not known Me;

Isaiah 45:6   that they may know from the rising of the sun, and to the sunset, that there is none besides Me. I am Jehovah, and there is none else;

Acts 10:36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)

1Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

1Timothy 6:15 Which in his times he shall show, [who is] the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

Sacrifice of self, ambition, possession or status. None will make Him love us more yet no other will cause us to draw closer to His heart. Take the dearest thing to me, if that’s how it must be, to draw me closer to you Oh Lord. What is there that cannot be laid aside for Him? It has become your God!

Genesis 22:2  And he said, Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

Luke 18:22   Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet you lack one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shall have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Suffering for Jesus We all know of stories told of those who have given up much, lived in poor health, and even suffered martyrdom for their Lord. Yet many spoiled believers complain of a hard pew or a cold draft which keeps them from the fellowship of the believers. Would He have us all to be poor and destitute in order to glorify Him? Must some great tragedy or illness befall us to allow His grace to shine through us? No not all, but some perhaps. What great joy that we should be counted so worthy!

Acts 5:41   And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.

Philippians3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death

2Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

1Peter 4:13   But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

2Timothy 1:8 Therefore you should not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner. But be partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God,

James 5:10   Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

Salvation as the ONLY way If there is any other way to heaven, if there is any other Savior, if there is any in heaven who have come through another religion or belief, then the Bible is a lie. Christianity is NOT inclusive. “One way Jesus”, is the only way, His only way. If you cannot accept this, have you accepted Him?

Deuteronomy 5:7 You shall have none other gods before me.

Psalm 62:2   He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.

Isaiah 25:9   And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

John 5:40   And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

John 14:6 Jesus says unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.

Separation is to be from sin and from close associations with sinners who will not be reconciled to Christ. Duty demands it, Holiness demands it, the bones of the faithful witness in Hebrews chapter eleven demands it and the Written and Living Word of God Almighty demands it.

Ezra 10:11   Now therefore make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives.

2Corinthians 6:14 Be you not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

6:15   and what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believes with an infidel?

6:16   And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for you are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

6:17   therefore come out from among them, and be you separate, says the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

Seeking Divine Wisdom  There is one source of the infinite knowledge and Godly wisdom on this earth. God has written a book for His children to find Him in. A book of love, compassion, joy, honor, power, and justice, with a Holy presence of the person who wrote it emanating from every chapter, every verse, every word, every jot and every tittle.

Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom: out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Proverbs 21:30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.

Proverbs 24:14 So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

Romans 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

James 3:17   But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
