Life’s Winter

Some folks do wonder why I think
As my short days fly as a blink

winterstorm

Of the time when my enemy draws near
Approaching faster now I fear

For I struggle in my journey’s climb
Within the days of life’s winter time.

Some say death and some passed on
For some it seems to be a new dawn
No it’s not just a fascination
But much more like an inclination
That the cycle of life has its way
And scriptures show our appointed day.

Pleasant though it often seems
It’s not the subject of many dreams
Although in life’s winter time I do gaze
Within my mind through the darkening maze
And see a future certain to be known
When this soul leaves behind flesh and bone.

What pain then shall be cried out
Matters not to those free from doubt
For eternity is surely grand with Him
While deniers of the faith find it grim
And so in life’s winter I pen my cry
Seeking to persuade those who die.

That Jesus died to save your soul
And by His blood you are made whole
Such a God has such a love for you and I
That you must know the apple of His eye
Is not some others who do not praise
But those owned by the Spirit’s blaze.

So ponder with me the coming gift
Of the moment when love shall sift
And the wheat and tares are separated
Into those who loved and those who hated
For the door which you have chosen to enter
Determines your thoughts in life’s winter.
