Is it really necessary?
Is it really necessary? I’m referring to what amounts to a shark feeding frenzy over at the Internetmonk dot com. They posted up the extremely popular four minute video called Why I Hate Religion But Love Jesus by bball1989 (Jefferson Bethke). And they contrasted it to the over thirteen minute counter video “Freestylin:Jesus = Religion by Revfisk (Jonathan Fisk) ripping apart the words and intent and theology of the first video and it’s author. Several years ago as I was purposefully seeking opportunities to share the truths of God’s word with willing ears I met him. He had a question that absolutely blew me away. It still does today and I think about it often. I know he told me who shared this thought with him but I really can’t recall just now. I’ve used it many times myself since then. Disappointment
So I’m wondering how other folks handle the disappointments of life. We seem to do different ones in different ways around our family. But it seems the important ones, the ones which come after we have thought and planned and prayed and even felt some security in the outcome, those are the ones we handle best. I’d like to think we are just strong or pragmatic or have such wisdom and foresight that nothing can surprise us. But the truth is at times we are as clueless as a box of rocks. Continue reading
