It didn’t happen this week. At least, it didn’t happen to me. There are great and famous folks it happened to but not me. Nelson Mandela was a famous leader of the nation of South Africa and a great hero to the people he helped to free from the slavery of human tyranny and bondage. I heard of him and admired him most of my life. It happened to him, he was ninety five years old. Paul Walker was some kind of movie actor from America I never heard of before. I never saw any movie he was in. I did not know anything about him until I heard the news of it happening to Him. He was about half as old as the other man. It happened to him this week. Although they were quite different from each other and lived worlds apart, they had one thing in common when it happened. They both left everything behind; everything. December 7th
This day is the anniversary of the attack by the nation of Japan upon the United States of America.
We call it Pearl Harbor Day.
December 7th, 1941
Although it is the memory of tragedy and sorrow, it is not the end of the story. As long as there are people in the world there will be suffering, sorrows and tragedies at the hands of other people. Today the enemies of the past are friends and partners. Hatred has been replaced with kindness.
As I pray for those who remain with us who experienced the horrors of that and other wars, I am grateful for the friendships we now know. And I pray for the peace and prosperity of all the earth especially in your family and life.

Home for my Heart
Home is where my heart is. It beats there every day. It’s kept in warmth and comfort cuddled in that place. It is not the house where I live, not the town I came from. My heart is not given to many rooms and large windows. Nor is it found in a smaller home meant to simplify. Continue reading
