Fun and frivolity are wonderful parts of our lives. Certainly we have plenty of serious, “life is hard”, times which seem to demand our serious focus. There are also times when we take logical building steps in a united direction. Like the ones we call career paths. And there are other interests we get even more serious about. Health issues, interpersonal relationships, hobbies and aspirations and even spiritual connections. A successful career can be both personally and financially rewarding. What do you Want?
God does not give you what you Want.
He gives you What HE wants you to Want.
Unless you don’t Want what He wants you to Want;
Then He might give you what you Want so you can learn
To Want what He wants you to Want.
Because if what you Want isn’t what He wants you to Want
Then it might just leave you Wanting…
What is it ?
If it was just the music, why would He say “Be still and KNOW that I am God”?
If it was just the prayer why would He say “Visit orphans and widows in their afflictions”?
If it was just the service why would He say “Let the dwellers of the rock sing, let them shout from the mountain tops”?
If it was just worship and praise and service and faithfulness and repentance and giving and seeking and humbling and whatever…
Wouldn’t it still just be ALL of Him. Jesus as my all in all.
Yes, there are many expressions and we each have our preferences “but it is the same God which works all in all”.
He is the Manna.
I have NOTHING without Him.
Perilous Times
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come”
Are you serious? You want to call these perilous times? You’ve got a roof over your head, a family to love and food on your table every night and you think things are rough? Perilous does not mean your riding mower might get a flat or your boat might not hold all your friends. Most people is western societies have little or no concept of perilous times. Perilous does not mean they might not sing your favorite song on Sunday. It does not even mean you won’t feel good about being in church. Continue reading
