Not Him

He was walking slowing over the shimmering ice crusted snowy ground. The slight hunch to his shoulders may have been age or perhaps just weariness from the cold. Yet I knew in an instant I did not want to be that man.
It was not his faltering gait as he shuffled along. That could have simply been wisdom responding to the challenging terrain. Or perhaps he was frail and feeble from age, his once handsome body a mere wisp of its former self. It was not his appearance for he seemed normal enough, for a man of his age. He wasn’t overly obese or thin and frail nor missing limbs or blind or any number of physical attributes that we might expect to succumb to age. Still I was immediately certain I did not want to be in the same state of affairs that I perceived in him. I desperately did not want to be like him. Continue reading

La Esperanza

When the entire population of the earth was in dark despair, experiencing the starkest estrangement from their creator, when they had disbelieved all truth of their creator and saw Him as a distant memory or fable, God told a man to build a boat. He called the boat an Ark. That ark represented the hope of escape from the destructive sin darkened path they travelled.

When Israel was in deep despair, experiencing the bondage and consequence of their sin, an Angel came to a young girl named Miriam to give a message of joy and hope.

When the promise of this hope came to pass with great signs and wonders, wise men were drawn from far away to acknowledge and participate in the hope which was given. Continue reading

Read Ripples

If I were to write a book to encourage all I knew
Perhaps I would call it Ripples to show what they could do
And how they tend to impact others in their life
Through acts of love and kindness undoing their strife

Every deed we do makes ripples in the hearts of others
Unlike hatred and selfishness which only hurts and smothers
Ripples are the impact like stones make in the water
When a thing is done despite the intent of the plotter

Every act of kindness rises like a tidal wave
While evil is overpowered by a ripple named forgave
So read a bit about the acts which like a quilter’s stipples
Are intended to encourage as you live within your Ripples

Worthiness

Just because the cost to you is not a monetary exchange
Does not mean the craftsman is untalented or strange
The price placed upon this work does not determine its worth
But merely limits your tasks to those you chose upon this earth
Those who work for free still have gain from their gift
For they show that friendship is a worthy paradigm shift
Having food and clothing we should there with be content
For every good and perfect gift is fully heaven sent
So if your friend does labor and serve your needs as you compel
Reward this one for all they’ve done drawing deep from your well

Be grateful and know they are worthy of your praise!
