The “R” Things of God

Righteousness To be right minded, right hearted, right walking. Oh, to live as did the Savior and touch lives for His glory by never faltering from His path. Yet when we falter and eagerly rejoin the sin which so easily besets us, we have the assurance of His cleansing and righteousness bestowed upon us again.

Psalm 101:3   I will set no wicked thing before my eyes. I have hated the work of those who turn aside; it shall not hold on to me.

Psalm 119:106 I have sworn, and I will perform [it], that I will keep your righteous judgments.

1John 1:9   If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1John 2:29 If ye know that He is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of Him.

1John 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that does righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous.

Repentance  is not the “whoops I’m sorry, my bad, it’s all good” attitude of no accountability in today’s society.  It is the true recognition of having fallen short of the mark set by a Holy God. His commandments and judgments are for our good always.

Matthew 9:13 But go and learn what this is, I will have mercy and not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Luke 18:13   And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

Romans 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

2Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world works death.

Rejecting Sin really goes hand in hand with the confrontation of questioning sin. Accept no less than God’s best. Turn your back on sin and its temporary pleasures. Hold our fleshly bodies to the highest standard – HOLINESS.

Psalm 10:15   Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil [man]: seek out his wickedness [till] you find none.

Revelation  2:2 I know your works, and your labor, and your patience, and how thou can not bear them which are evil: and thou have tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and has found them liars:

Respect When we honor undeserving hypocrites with our adulation, we cheapen the value of our praise for the righteous. When we honor worldly literature or music or performance with our adulation, we cheapen the value of our praise for the Word of God and its author. Respect those who respect and live by God’s Word. Reject the notion that being held in high regard by men, whether godly or ungodly, is worth compromising our stand in the Word of God.

Psalm 119:6 Then I shall not be ashamed, when I have respect to all Your Commandments.

Psalms 119:128 Therefore I esteem all your precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.

Isaiah 17:7   At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.

Romans 13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest anyone rob you through philosophy and vain deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ.

Philippians 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
