This topic could easily be named the Three R’s of Rash Human Interaction. Unfortunately they are not limited to our relationships with each other. We find it equally easy to lash out at pets, inanimate objects and even God. We tend to be equal opportunity venters and rarely distinguish between the objects of our ire. When we get a full head of steam on our current malady we seldom seem to consider the impact crater which the meteor we are about to hurl might create. We deem it sufficient that fate has decreed this path to be set and may heaven help those who get in our way. Even if it is those who live in heaven. Why would we do so? Why is it possible and perhaps even more amazing why is it acceptable that those in the path should just suck it up and take it.
The heathen Rage – Why do the heathen rage and imagine a vain thing? That is God’s question to a rebellious and questioning people. As ungodly, hell deserving, prideful sinners we lash out at a Holy God and blame Him for every malady we suffer. The trials and discomforts of life are the natural effects of sin. We choose sin. We choose to follow sin. We choose to wallow in sin. It is only by the grace and mercy of Jesus that we even have the opportunity to ever say no to sin. It is not now natural for us to make that choice as it was once intended. Who are these heathen who rage? They are all those living human beings who are not rightly related to Him. Heathen means stranger, not one of God’s people. We are strangers when we have not been reconciled to God the Father by the Blood of God the Son, through the faith given by God the Holy Spirit
