Birthdays

My friends have birthdays and so we rejoice
Others grow older, without too much choice
Some do it with smiles; some with loud voice
Smart ones just kneel before Jesus to rejoice

Money drives many to succeed at their trade
Rewards of riches is what they have weighed
Spending their birthdays with their dreams betrayed
A life for treasures of dust was their trade

Time passes and we ask, where it all went
Is there not a clue in how it was spent?
Finding God’s peace or riches to lament
Birthdays will pass and who’ll know where you went

My friends have birthdays and we do wonder
Will I be seen as light’ning or thunder
Will I find Heaven or go down under
Smart ones receive Jesus without wonder

did it make ya think?
