Christmas Came

Oh to be sure, it truly happened. The scars are there to prove it.
The sky darkened, to hide the shame, the earth moved a bit.
Sins were many, love was broken, sorrows ruled the night;
And on that day, the healer of life, redeemed with all His might.

From beginning to end, His passing through, seemed so very short.
“This truly was the Son of God”, came the soldier’s clear report.
Sometime before, there had been such joy, as birth came unto Him;
A mother, a father, rejoicing with shepherds, behind a lowly inn.

Christmas came, on a day which, we truly don’t remember.
But for the sake, of choosing one, the twenty fifth of December.
The Star, the night, the host of angels, proclaiming His joy;
The God, the man, how great a plan, born as a little boy.

The mind of God, in the heart of man, to complete His Holy plan.
Though sin did stain, His love would reign, over every man.
The choice is ours, to know His powers, if we only will.
Without true faith, life has no base, there is no Spirit’s fill.

To conquer sin, is not our battle, for the victory is the Lord’s;
We suffer no toils and reap the spoils, as His sacrifice affords.
The lies, the sins, hidden deep within, all forgiven by His love.
That is why Christmas came, when God left Heaven above.

The lights, the trees, with presents in sight, what is it all for?
The babe, the star, that holy night, we’ve heard it all before.
Christmas came, one gift for men, all that He could give;
So if within your heart He tugs, submit to Him and live.

There is no other gift, nor treasure, which is His desire;
Than for you, to accept His gift, of Holy Spirit fire.
Then within, you’ll have His way and never be the same
For on that Night, in His sight, is when your Christmas came.
