The Lie And The Promise

How odd is the story, that gives men God’s glory
How wide are the ways, that steal from His praise
How simple the lies, by which Satan implies
It should man’s own, that place called God’s throne
How could man find, a god in his mind
Whose ways are undone, not knowing the Son

It’s not by chance, we choose to dance
To the mournful tune, leading to our ruin
The piper is clever, with plans to sever
Our joy from the king; Can dead hearts sing
So God made a plan, to rescue each man
And promised from old, this grace we are told

How faithful and true, what He speaks to you
Of enduring love, which comes from above
Sin had undone, what grace had begun
The Word must be kept, such tears He wept
The price to be paid, the grave where He laid
Sin’s laughter was froze, when Jesus arose

The new day is come, for all not some
Who choose to believe, that they might receive
Forgiveness from sin, promised to men
Not wallowing in mud, but cleansed by His blood
Surrounding His throne, and now called His own
Singing loud praise, to the Ancient of days
