My View

Many times people ask “What is your philosophy?” What they really mean is ‘How do you view’ something, anything, or even everything. For me it is a pretty easy answer. I hold to a Biblical world view. Meaning that it is all filtered through a knowledge and understanding of the truth presented to man by God in the Bible. That normally gets me one of three responses. Commonly it is an instant shutdown, shut up, I don’t want to hear that nonsense. Get real; can’t you think for yourself? Then there is the antithesis. “Oh yeah, I like totally agree”, no discussion needed. But the third response is my favorite. “So how do you mean that?” My view and the basis for it matters because there is an interest in validating or maybe even formulating their view.

The view, the way we see things, the how we understand and interpret all we acknowledge, is always based on what we perceive as truth. A leader in ancient Roman society once asked, “What is truth”. That is probably still the most significant question anyone can ask. Here we are, thousands of years later, asking which came first, the chicken or the egg? What is truth? What is the undeniable, unarguable, totally congruent view of anything based upon? You breathe. Why? Evolution ? You came from monkeys and they breathe? They came from fish which don’t breath, which came from what? And when and how do you know it is really true? Or is it just your fill in answer because you don’t have a basis in truth which works in every answer?

Contrary to the ignorance of evolution, it did not take man millions of years to get this smart. We did it in a few thousand years. Man is much smarter than millions of years. Or at least he was at one time. A careful study of our recorded history reveals that we do not learn very well from history. It is said that those who do not learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them. The Bible is the premier book of History. In it are recorded events and peoples which have been questioned right out of existence. That is until some archaeologist makes a discovery which proves and validates it. That has happened often. Never has there been a discovery of any physical evidence which disproves any account in the Bible, never. So after thousands of years and millions of scientific opponents, I’m sticking with the winner, the Bible.

So pick a topic and we will see what the Bible has to say about it. If the Bible is truly silent about any question, then we will be also. However I usually find it still gives guidance where there is no clear command. Now at this point it would not be unexpected if I were to list out a series of topics and spout off the Biblical position for each. But my purpose is not to build a tit for tat conversation in which I can be pronounced the winner. My purpose is to declare that every Word of God is pure and true and intended for our understanding and benefit. To say that in the natural world we find exceptions to the intent of the plan of God is to acknowledge that sin has perverted and supplanted what God intended for good. Yet even in those anomalous incidents, God has made a way for His plan and purpose to be received and His name to be exalted.

Sin made a mess of God’s creation but it did not surprise Him. Before the foundation of the world, He had his Plan A in place, redemption. There never has been a plan B. Time was created for man and dwells within God. Can you imagine how long His love would have waited for us to return to Him if there was no time? Some things just make my head hurt to try to grasp. How you ever considered why Jesus needed to go to the cross if evolution is true? I can’t see it. Not in my world view. And neither is any other opinion, way of thinking or human mental gymnastics which opposes the truth of Scripture. “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus”. Yes, I believe it. “For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he has prepared for him that waits for him”. Yes, I believe it too. For me it is a pretty easy answer. I hold to a Biblical world view. Meaning that it is all filtered through a knowledge and understanding of the truth presented to man by God in the Bible. That’s just the way I see it.
