Old Men
When I was just a young man
I was told where I could go
By those who were much older
Which seemed to make them know
Then I grew into a man
Who could tell others when
They could go and where
Until they would become men
Now I am much older
And some might think me wise
But remembering when and where
Is often a welcome surprise
And for these young men
Who think their day has come
I just smile as I recall
When I was just as dumb
So Lord I’m asking
If you would be so kind
Help me as I’m getting older
To not entirely lose my mind
