The Last Days

In the last days, the days many saw coming, most continued without change. As was promised, “As the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be”. Throughout all levels of society the gloom and doom expectations were common topics. Asteroids and fires and natural phenomenon accompanied wars and national conflicts and all such as predicted. “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in different places.” But this had been occurring for more than a single lifetime and many were questioning “Where is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” And it was the last days. Few things changed. Few cared. Continue reading

No Excuses

Beginning excuses come in a flood of variety. They did, she was, it wasn’t my fault, I had no choice; I didn’t see, know, feel, believe, etc. None of them are completely valid, of course. Still we babble them as though they contain some magic elixir capable of exonerating and declaring us as innocent as the driven snow. Before we even come to the end of our “Wasn’t me, couldn’t be” utterance, we are already concocting the lies and nuances of truth we’ll need to support our defense. We rely heavily on our premise that “No one understands like Jesus” and He will forgive us anyway. Continue reading

The “L” Things of God

Love without Lust  The word love has been so attached to the lusts of the flesh and eyes and body that it is hardly recognizable as the agape relationship Jesus speaks of. Whenever love is used as an adjective to a thing, it has fallen from the lofty place of Christ. True love is ever giving, ever selfless, ever purposeful to the benefit of others. Will it ever be said of us, how the love wherewith we loved fell from the throne of grace, through our heart, to the need?

Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee.

John 3:16       For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Continue reading

The “K” Things of God

Kingship   Who is your Lord, your master, your sovereign? We have replaced the throne of God with the Lazy Boy recliner in our lives. Few people fast, pray on calloused knees, sacrificially give to the Lord’s ministries, or deprive themselves for His glory. No, we are much more like Solomon who denied himself no pleasure.  We are our own king.

1Samuel 8:7   And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

Psalm 5:2        Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God:  know so little. “I’ll pray for you” is probably the most broken promise in Christendom. Even the creator God of the universe testifies against all such. What a sense of Godliness is there reserved for the one who keeps all his promises. Continue reading
