I have this one great thing left to share. I am whittled by circumstances, worn by the winds of time and change, blistered by the overexposure to sin, and constantly groaning in growing older. There are few public announcements and political choices I am able to get behind and promote. Sickness and disease, poverty and crime, wars not of my choosing, and scandals at every turn seem to define the sum of life’s experiences. Children in slavery, women in bondage, greed in control and power over people are the goals of many. Yet I have this one great thing left to share. Continue reading
What’s on my Mind
DO you Really want to know what’s on my mind??
I am talking to You. Yes You. I know you are your own person.
You are entitled to your opinion and you have just as much right to say it as anyone else does. I just want to tell you how horribly ridiculous and pathetic it is for you to claim to be a Christian and do the things you do. Your actions tell me that you love your flesh and your experiences a whole lot more than Jesus. You cannot flaunt your love for this world in His face and give Him lips service to impress people. Just because you know a few songs that mention His name does not cut it.
I can’t ask the question any better than He already did: And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Look, I’m really tired of tiptoeing around this whole issue with you. You want to un-friend me, refuse my calls, not talk to me, or even curse me to my face, that’s fine. But for the love of the Lord Jesus Christ who went to the cross and paid for your sins with His life blood, Do NOT keep saying you love Him and acting like you don’t know what His word says. Either deny you ever knew Him or Repent!
The G Things of God
What ever Happened to:
Godliness as Great Gain – There was a time when being satisfied with who you are in Christ was more rewarding than all the riches of this world. There is still a need to know His love, forgiveness and blessings as the greatest treasures achievable to mankind. All other trophies pale into nothingness when compared to one minute, no, one moment of the glory of His fellowship. There can be no higher commendation than to be known as a Godly person
1Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profits little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. 1Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 1Timothy 6:11 But you, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 2Peter 3:11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,Swimming Swimmingly
In 1959 C.S. Lewis wrote in a letter of advice to an acquaintance admonishing him to “Try to remember that the ‘bottomless sea’ can’t hurt us as long as we keep on swimming”. I think that analogy helps me when examining my own propensity to judge and condemn my actions and thoughts. The old adage is that if I think it to be sin, then it is. The danger of that reasoning is that if I think it not to be sin then it is not. At least from my perspective. Every view has a foundation upon which it stands. For many people the foundation is one of their own design formed upon the shifting sands of popular opinion and relativism. For some there is a more sure bedrock upon which they stand. For the Christian, of which I am one, the springboard for all judgment is the Bible. Although I may not have the complete and right understanding in all areas, I strive to live up to the proper understanding which I do have. Continue reading
