Becky, Becky, Becky…

Hi Becky,

Having “been there – done that”, I would like to share my perspective on the question “Should I write a book?” Each of us has different motivations and promoters. Ultimately only you and God know, and sometimes He is not all that forthcoming.

My reluctance to actually publish came from an understanding of scripture and a knowledge of me. There are plenty of fools saying things which are partial truths and I certainly did not want to be one of them. I also was not sure I had enough of value to fill more than a few pages. There is no end to the number of books being written and I certainly was not a fan of what was in most. What would I even put in a book? For the longest time I said that if God wanted me to write a book I would. And I continued to tell the joke of the man who died in a flood and asked God why He did not save him. God said “I sent you two rowboats and a helicopter…” Continue reading

Fearful Fatherless & Fallen

They are a blessed people who understand the wonders of life under the control of a loving and benevolent God. One of the many joys and blessings in our relationship with the Lord of the Universe is the quiet communications we enjoy when we are most open and intimate with Him. It is possible to spend hours with His thoughts and sweetness, lingering in our hearts, removing every care the world would have us dwell on. We linger completely satiated in every sense through timeless waves of Holy presence.

When we leave our intimate quiet time with the Lord it should be in our hearts as though we physically are walking through a glorious field of spring flowers with our arm lifted up to heaven as though the Lord Himself was reaching down His Holy hand allowing you to be holding the finger of God like a little child crossing the street under His care and protection. The Heart of the Disciple

Lord Jesus,
You know best. For You to be my Lord is everything that I desire.
I want No riches that would cause me to deny me need of You.
I want No test that would cause me to doubt You.
I want No wisdom that would allow me to think that I know best.
I want No Strength that will cause anyone to think that I have done it or can do it on my own.
I want No Weakness that would cause others to stumble instead of coming to know You.

Oh, that every day would bring just what is needed to glorify Christ Jesus;
To show my total dependence on You, Your power, Your presence, Your person.
My greatest joy is that there would be no way to distinguish Your desire and purpose from the path I have chosen,
I pray that Your star would be so bright that men and women, boys and girls, would look past me to come to know Your brilliance.

Mold my clay as You see fit while protecting me from those who would stomp me into a useless pile of selfishness.
Even Lord, if your choice is to lay me so low that no one notices me.
For Lord Jesus, my God and my King, You know best.
You must increase, I must decrease.
For in that state I will be content.

Rage Regret & Repentance part II

Man has regrets, especially when he lashes out at God and then realizes he has bitten the and that feeds him. God asked a most interesting question when challenging man’s opinion of Him.  He said “Am I a man that I should repent?” It was of course rhetorical. He is not just a man. He is Creator, Provider, Sustainer and the dearest Friend you will ever know. He is love, He is perfect and He is pure. Man is not. When Adam chose to sin after the similitude of Eve he became unclean, impure and rebellious. He regretted his choice almost immediately. He attempted to hide from the consequences of his sin. And yet in hiding he demonstrated the consequences of his sin; separation from the presence of God. When we sin, transgress God’s law, we regret it only because there are consequences we do not desire to confront. When there is no consequence there is no regret.

God has no regrets, for He, knowing the end from the beginning, set in His plan every imaginable or possible outcome with one desires. God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance, yet some perish. It is the goodness of God that leads men to repent, yet some do not repent. For the Scripture says God is not a man that he should repent. Nor is man a god that he should not.
