Steve’s Battle

Based on the Bible’s account of the conversation between God and Satan over His faithful servant Job, I imagine there may have been a more recent conversation around the throne room of Jesus that went something like this:

“So, what have you been up to lately Satan?”

“Oh, just the usual, causing distrust, dissention and spreading disbelief. It seems to be so easy to get people to turn their backs on you that I am busy just counting my successes.” Continue reading

Family – I’m So Very Glad

There is a popular song which begins, “I’m so glad, I’m a part of the family of God”. Even though we are called the Family of God, the Lord deals with us as individuals. While we marry and have families and have committed interpersonal relationships still God expects a personal connection that is more than any other experience we know. Often we are able to trace our extended family tree for hundreds of years, through many generations. The Lord has a one generation view of His place in our lives. Continue reading

Pain 3

Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so. God is real because He says He is. I know He is because He has convinced my reasoning faculties that nothing else can be the explanation for His miraculous intervention in my life. He walks with me and talks with me and tells me I am His. Those who deny Him would say all of this is just my internal justification for things which appear beyond my control. And that causes me a bit of pain. Continue reading

Sometimes it is Just the Music

Sometimes it is the music. We pass information in a lot of ways. We are blessed by our creator with our five basic sensory inputs to gather information and a wonderful brain to process it with. The experiences and lessons of life are the filters which organize and categorize the information we receive. Sometimes, maybe always, the way we perceive a thing is due in large part to the medium through which it comes to us. I am a black and white, spoken, written word processor. I do well with that. My beautiful wife of the last 37 plus years is more musically inclined. Many of my friends are better at receiving a message through music as well. More often these days we see people drawn towards intense visual representations, but it seems they are usually accompanied with music. Continue reading
