The “V” Things of God

Victorious Living is that manner of living which is above the fray of concern for earthly possessions and lauds. It is in being possessed of God that true joys and satisfactions are found, rather than possessing things.

Numbers 13:30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

Amos 5:14      Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.

Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem; behold, your King comes to you. He is righteous and victorious, meek and riding on an ass, even on a colt, the son of an ass.

1Timothy 14:12 Let no man despise your youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

1John 5:4       For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.

Vows             A solemn pledge (to oneself or to another or to a deity) to do something or to behave in a certain manner. We would most closely resemble this to a solemn promise which one would do their utmost to perform. Often people mistake a vow for a covenant.

Numbers 30:2 If a man vow a vow unto the LORD, or swear an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.

Deuteronomy 23:21 When thou shall vow a vow unto the LORD your God, thou shall not slack to pay it: for the LORD your God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.

Ecclesiastes 5:4 When you vow a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which you hast vowed.

Visitation    of the needy and un-churched was once considered a simple piety. Where is the desire to meet the physical and spiritual needs of those who are without? It is desire which comes from God the Holy Spirit to His obedient and willing servants.

Acts 15:36      And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, and see how they do.

Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

James 1:27     Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
