Words of Your Making

There are many words which need to be said. There are many thoughts which need to be heard. You have them rolling through the hills and valleys of your mind. You seek to find a response. The response cannot come if the the words are not said. You can see the blank stare looking back at your silent lips. You have failed to seize the opportunity to proclaim the thoughts of truth and purity which are the formative foundations of your existence. There needs to be a response. There must be a reaction to the action which is given.

Ebb and flow, light and dark, truth and error, rashness and wisdom, spoken and silenced, heard and ignored. Responses cannot come without some impetus. What say you?

We are what we learn. Some would argue that we could learn better and be more. Others would place us only within the limits of our birth situation. You can only go so far and no more. A child first learns to say “No”. Then perhaps “Mama” or “Dada” but they learn. What does a child learn to say in a deaf family? Words, spoken words are not necessary to the adults as they communicate thoughts and needs. The child will learn from the sounds of others but their foundation will be the eyes and hands gestures of the ones who train them. The responses are render from the fertile mind of an expectant heart. Good is more desirable than evil. Smiles are happier than tears. Obedience is better than a hundred atoning sacrifices.

Laws are designed to allow us to interact with others on an even playing field. The rules on a sports field are the laws of the game. Some are guides to fairness while others are punishments for gross violations. Some are more severe than others. On a sports field actions have consequences, good and bad. Common goals are achieved by communicating thoughts, verbally or intuitively. Rewards are merited by accomplishments. Progress produces encouragement. Lessons from sports are true is society. At all levels these are true. Society agrees on boundaries to restrict evil. We desire limits on evil because we know we need those limits to produce the good we desire to receive. Lawbreakers are penalized as encouragement to obey. But, referring to the Scriptures of the Holy Bible, which is the greater power, “Thou shalt not” or “Thou shalt”?

That is to say, convey, propose by thought and word, is it more profitable to be told what to do or what not to do? Adam and Eve were told that they should eat of every tree in the garden except one. They obeyed and freely ate of all that was before them. They were also specifically told they could not eat of only one tree in the garden. They disobeyed and freely ate of the one forbidden tree before them. Was it a consumption problem, a desire problem, a communications problem, a pride problem, or just a word problem? You shall commit no murder is a premise and a law written in the law books of every nation and peoples on the earth. It does not come from the hearts of people for the benefit of others for Cain clearly demonstrated his willingness to disregard the benefit of Able. And millions upon millions since bear witness to the same neglect of concern.

We are told not to take life from another. We are told to protect life at all costs, even if the cost is taking another life. This is not a contradiction but rather an extension. We are told to not worship or love false gods and pretenders. We are told to Love the Lord your God with all you heart, all your soul and all your mind. One does not cancel the other. These are conjoined thoughts and laws. Within the heart of every person is the ability to choose to do good or evil, to love or hate, to eat or abstain. Words convey the thoughts for the hearing and the deaf. We read and believe or scan and reject. We filter what goes in by the witness and testimony of what has been presented before. We decide which law is right, which rule we will follow, which eternity we will inhabit.

Does life continue? Is there power within man beyond the grave? Is there hope within the laws of men? Yes, yes and not much. Words which are important are the words which give us hope. The words in the laws of men constrain us and limit our freedom to know future hope beyond present experience . Hope is always future. Hope is the promise of more. Hope is the power to overcome the shackles of today and see the glories of tomorrow. In the Bible it is written “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free”. In your heart it is written “there is a God and He loves you more than His own life”. The words of that book declare that He, Jesus, is the only way to know a forever tomorrow with the creator of all which is.

Words of some tell us, that the words of others are not true. Knowing which words are the truth which sets you free is the most important understanding you can have. Simply because one believes they are right does not make it so. A stopped clock is right twice a day. The mind of man is not meant to be deceived. We are given the warning to “Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind”. Angels are messengers, of both good and evil. The good testify to the truth which sets you free, the words of the Scripture. The evil testify against truth for their own profit and not for yours. Which word you obey determines the rewards and consequences of your life.

To obey is better than sacrifice. This admonition was given after obedience to the word had be ignored. The words or solutions anyone offers beyond or instead of the truth which sets you free, bring sorrow and are made contrary to the desire of the Holy Creator. Your words my say that you do not believe He is. Perhaps what you do not believe is what men’s words have made Him into. How is it possible to obey His words when you do not know which are His and which some man has invented? Have you heard of prayer? It is more than just a word. It is the two way communication between a divine king named Jesus and a single soul whom He has created; that’s you. It is His way of forming in you, the understanding of His truth so that you can know. Here is how it works: you ask God to show you the truth and He will.

His words are the ones you need to hear, need to believe, need to follow. It is not a simple one time transaction. It is a continuing daily activity which He has with you until you leave this world to be in His throne room. It is His stated (that’s words again) desire for you to hear Him and know His truth. He places His Holy Spirit within you to understand His purpose and plan for you, all the days of you life. Those who refuse to hear, obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed his covenant. This is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD. There is but one true God. He is living and loving, giving you words to hear. You may receive or reject His words. You may despise His goodness or delight in His ways. And this you will do because you have heard and believed the words which you have chosen to follow. His words to some are “You would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD. To others He says “Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good”. Choose your words wisely.
