Life’s Horse Race

She sits in the gates and patiently waits for that familiar ring when a ding-a-ling will certainly bring from the crowd a joyful cry then the mud will fly or dirt if it’s dry as she heads for the first bend strong urging will send her toward a certain end where it is win or lose for every muscle she’ll use and sweat pores will ooze for speed is her aim it’s not for the tame for we desire this fame and rewards of acclaim and gold nor meant for the old as many will scold if she fails while she is young but her praises are sung if she is among the leaders at the last turn many souls do yearn as pounding hoofs churn for the victory of their steed it’s seldom about need for men of great greed push beyond her heart then there’s the part desired from the start as the finish comes into sight to win seems so right no matter the fight and then comes the end when winners who’ve grinned have followed the trend seeing their reward has moved them toward like Jonah’s gourd a time to shrivel and die the scriptures do not lie Jesus is why you can be in a different case believers win in life’s race never knowing death’s taste for God’s wrath is on the cross where Jesus suffered your loss and if He’s your boss your horse has come in first place
