Inappropriate

It seemed quite certain that it was inappropriate. In the midst of “Oh, how wonderful. What a great feeling. How did I ever deserve this?” It certainly did not seem like it was appropriate that it should be. It was the immediate reaction to the good that should happen when it happened to me. Even though I was the one who knew “deserve” was not in the equation. I am bent in my ego toward selfishness and control and using people and inappropriate-contentloving things. The moment my mind considered the thought, then, it was an inappropriate touch. My mind went immediately to the remembrance of that touch which was indeed unsuitable. Continue reading

Success Chosen

There is a standard by which we measure ourselves to determine success or failure. Everyone we know receives the same analysis in our eyes. Some receive more favor or gentleness of application but all are measured. Then, we want to know where “we” fit on the scale we have created. We even declare the value of things around us to signify the rewards due for the achievements. Gold is best and blue is prettiest. SuccessFlashy is necessary and brilliantly colored is only for the highest. Every thought and intent of our cognizant being is coddled daily by this one directive. In the end we will be the “most successful” or we will only have been.

Shiny Red Bicycle

They were nine maybe ten years old. He was an only child. He was loved by his hard working father and his mother. Although he did not have many friends he was well mannered and handsome. He respected others and did well in school. It was his birthday. He had a brand new shiny red bicycle. The day started out well, as many days did for him. Most ended well, this one would not.
