Is He Able?

He is Able. The goodness of God leads us to repentance. The scriptures clearly state that it is so. It is not our sorrow for our misdeeds nor the acknowledgement of our short comings when comparing ourselves to the standards and laws of God’s written word. It is rather God’s declaration of His love for us, His profession of His own kindness toward us which draws us to the place of turning from our selfish choices. When we should have been forever the object of His wrath we became the recipients of His love.

We then find delight in walking in His ways. Not because of the threat of His divine and Holy wrath, but because of His example and demonstration of His loving character of kindness toward us. We choose Him because He first chose us. We love Him because He first loved us. We die daily to sin because His first died for all our sin. We live for Him because He lives evermore for us. He has given to us eternal life and we shall never perish.

We dishonor Him and disgrace His Holiness and promises when we claim that we can lose life eternal through our sin. His death is sufficient for all sin. His forgiveness is greater than all sin. His gift is received by those who choose to believe He is. That He is God Almighty. That He is Savior to all who believe. That He is able to keep that which He has committed. That He is the very kindness which leads us to repentance. To profess otherwise is to deem Him as insufficient, unworthy, unfaithful, untrue and incapable of securing the promise of eternity without our direct and pitiful intervention.

He is ABLE. And I am His.

Reasons

There has been an extended absence of new content on this site since I began working at the small Christian University in central Ohio. Over the last two years the opportunities and successes have been amazing to be a part of. Not my successes, unless you count me hanging on for dear life as God changes things. Still not much writing on my part. The whys are many and the results are fantastic. Between the teaching, preaching and treasury responsibilities at church, including our dying Pastor, finding a new Pastor, being a part time caretaker for our ninety-year-old mother in law, mentoring impressionable college students and loving my wife, time may be reason number one. Change Comes

We are invincible. We are eternal. We are amazing and resilient and capable of so much more than we can possibly think or imagine. We are created in the very image of the one who created us. Then we, in our perspective, are limited to this mortal fleshly body, on this planet, with an uncertain future, in a state of denial towards the Creator through the rejection of our forefathers. We see and perceive through a darkened glass as though what is real and present is mystical and distant. So which are we? As we are created or as we perceive through the deception we are fed daily? My Friend Randy

In the early days we seldom consider the tremendous impact which small things have in our lives. Abilene Texas was a place where such an event took place. Randy and I were co-laborers in a small church in turmoil. I was the legalistic, narrow minded, only doctrine matters, young preacher and Randy was the son of such a man, wanting to explode the love of Christ free in those who claimed Jesus as Savior.
