It Was Promised

gray dawnIn the dawning, long before the light of day melted the darkness into morning, the stillness was thick. The song birds were absent. It was too early for even stirring. The darkness was changing ever so slightly. Staring intently, for long minutes into the blackness, reveals only minute changes. Eventually there were thin threads of dark blue ribbons in the sky above. Each moment they appeared to grow fatter and lighter. Other darker thicker ribbons separated them from the pitch black which had enveloped all that could be seen before the night. The stars had faded behind the overcast skies. Moment by moment the lighter ribbons seemed to be thinner but not overwhelmed be the darker ones. Slowly the light was coming. Not brighter but stronger. Then it happened. There, just above that light ribbon of gray, a hint of the other color. Then the hue grew, maybe pink, maybe yellow. Ever so slightly but it was true, the dark was ebbing. It was promised. Piles of Decorations

One of the more interesting decorating accomplishments you may see in our home is piles of coins scattered in virtually every room of the house. When coins come out of pockets, they are placed on the nearest available counter or dresser or table. There they often stay for days or weeks or in a few cases for months. Piles can contain amounts from less than a dollar to tens of dollars in nickel and silver and copper coin.coins One pile was found to contain over thirty dollars in copper alone. It would not be unusual to find several coins lying on the floor where they had been dropped throughout the house.

Can You Shame Christ?

Speaking of Jesus as Savior, High Priest and obedient son, Paul writes for our edification, explaining what our understanding needs to be of Deuteronomy 29:29. Some things God withholds, some things He openly displays in His creation for all to see and some things are revealed to those who will diligently seek Him. He is to be sought in simplicity and earnest desire. We must not think that the wonders of God exist simply to satisfy our curiosity. He has with great and specific purpose established every jot and every tittle of His word. There are more things to be said and understood and spoken about the Lord Jesus than it is possible for man to comprehend. And whether it be said simply or profoundly, if it falls upon inattentive ears, it will only achieve a denting of their meager understanding and not a dam bursting break through. Continue reading
