Words matter. Wise Words matter most. The wisest words found on the earth in any printed material are found in the Bible. The wisest thing which anyone can do is read it, discern it, believe it, and live it. However for many there is an extra step which gets worked in. Although it is a necessary step, it is often entangled in the interpretation of the deliverer. That is “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”(Romans 10:17) Most would understand this to mean that someone else has to help you in order for you to get the right meaning from the Scriptures. Normal
Nothing is more telling of the real you than when normal is torn away and unreal becomes reality. Normal is not just the American dream. Normal is what you are accustomed to. Normal is surrounded by predictable bite sized savory morsels of life sprinkled with surprises of joy and disappointment. Normal is agreeing with most around you and tolerating those who are different. Normal is the toilet seat down, toilet paper draping over the top, the dishes needing to be washed and laundry to be done. Normal is life flowing as it usually does at your level of existence with expectation that it will continue. Normal is doing the best you can to enjoy the life you have been given by the choices you have made within the circumstances God has placed you in. Continue reading
When Life Ends
Opportunity
Possibility: What if someone really, truly, had never heard? What if they were not privileged to read the book or hear from someone who had? What if it were actually the case for someone? What if it was you and I didn’t say something, anything? What would their liability be then? Or mine?
Paul addressed this concern when writing in Romans chapter one verse twenty: “so that you are without excuse”. Without proving a thesis here, what that says is that each one of us bears our own responsibility for our choices and eventually our destiny. Continue reading
