The “Y” Things of God

Yearning  Our yearnings are to be to become more like Christ. Our need is to seek Him while He may be found. Our heart is the spiritual piece of us which yearns to know Him and become so close to Him that no one can tell us apart. Yearning for those things which have no lasting value are a waste of the precious time and life we have been given. Where do we desire to be with such great desire that nothing else matters?

Galatians 4:18 But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.

Philippians 1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

Hebrews 11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

1Peter 2:2       As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word that ye may grow thereby:

Yielding     to the temptations of the world is sin; to Christ is great gain. On the one side we need huge stop signs to prevent us. We have them, the Bible calls them commandments. On the other side we desire to fall headlong into His loving arms and be absorbed in Him. Yielding involves choice. As the poem attributed to a story by Harry Ironside has often expressed:

Two natures beat within my breast

The one is foul, The One is blessed

The one I love, the one I hate

The one I feed, will dominate

2Chronicles 30:8  Now be ye not stiff necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.

Romans 6:13  Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

Romans 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as you have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
