The “Z” Things of God

Zeal          is the passionate response of a willing heart to the goodness and mercy of an all wise, loving, Heavenly father. As a passion, it must be tempered by the Word of God and God the Holy Spirit. Zeal is expressed in Scripture as an attribute of a Holy God. We should seek to adorn His attributes. In our passion, we should provoke others to good works and following the Lord. This will be seen as zeal to some and normal to others. However it will greatly please our Heavenly Father.

Numbers 25:11 Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.

Isaiah 59:17    For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.

Isaiah 63:15    Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?

2Corinthians 9:2  For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.

Galatians 4:18 But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.

Colossians 4:13 For I bear him (Epaphras) record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.

Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
