It was not the beginning of a thing. Nor was it the end. It was not even the new beginning of a new thing or the thought of one. It was simply the next.
There had been a before and a before that all the way back to the first moment when there was no before to be. It certainly would not be the end of befores or the beginning of there being no more to come. It was simply next.
In much the same way which each of us attempts to gain perspective or encapsulate relevance, we have the perceived need to place events in sequence. Cause and effect, this then that, joy from victory, sorrow from defeat, all proclaim value by being differentiated.
It seems appropriate that we view accomplishment as improvement and wonder when we do not seem to have done so why we have not.
