The “Y” Things of God

Yearning  Our yearnings are to be to become more like Christ. Our need is to seek Him while He may be found. Our heart is the spiritual piece of us which yearns to know Him and become so close to Him that no one can tell us apart. Yearning for those things which have no lasting value are a waste of the precious time and life we have been given. Where do we desire to be with such great desire that nothing else matters?

The “X” Things of God

eXampling Godliness  Hebrews Chapter eleven is called the faith chapter because of the testimonies exampled their. People are given special commendation in scripture because they exhibited qualities in their decisions and daily manner of living which gave evidence of their having known Jehovah God in a personal and real and effectual way. We example our love for the Savior when we do as He did, in pleasing the Father. He exampled for us and we provide example for others.

John 8:29       And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

John 13:15     For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

It’s What I Want!

I currently drive an automobile which achieves far above average fuel mileage, two or three times what many drivers experience. I would like to own an all-electric luxury automobile as my daily driver. I have a need for reliable cost effective transportation. I have a desire for something more, something special. There are certain drawbacks inherent with any choice of transportation. We care about pollution, safety, cost and even style. There are some constraints on us from outside sources as well. Government mandated pollution and safety standards, current social style opinions, even the availability of the resources to meet our desires. In other words, how deep are my pockets? What I want and what I need are separated by several social-economic issues. Continue reading →

The Sun Has Risen

The Sun rose early. Its bright rays bringing life and light to what had been a darkened world. The mysteries which had been hidden by the long night were once again revealed. What might have been thought to be lurking dangers now appeared as innocent as the beautiful green trees and grass. The fear and darkness is displaced by the unrelenting, overpowering, unstoppable, brilliant light. The vigilance of the watchers in the night is rewarded by the coming light.

Although a peace and calm comes over those who were charged with warning of the dangers in the night, a stirring is seen in others. It was the day. It was the time to labor. It would be hours before the night would threaten to return, the night in which no man could work. In the day was the time to plant and plow and put effort to the plans and dreams which had prompted their preparations. Continue reading →
