Why Choose Sin

To my friends who are so inclined to ask:

It is not that you are a bad person; you have just made a choice that when compared the good of God’s plan and desires, does not measure up.

God is not mad at you for the choice you have made. He is mad about you; as in crazy in love with you. So when you DO what disagrees with Him, He sends you encouragement to choose differently, to choose His way. Sometimes He does it through someone who already knows and usually through someone who has already been down that path and finally figured it out. Continue reading →

Two Views

My human view of life’s events:
 
Yes, it has been EXTREMLY hard.
No, I don’t think you wanted to go through it.
Did it have to be so humbling and humiliating leaving behind only a helplessness in your spirit?
Yes, you feel like you are still in the middle of it and it is awfully difficult to imagine when it will be over or what life will be like in its aftermath.
What possible good can come from this?
 
My eternal view of the same events:
 
Yes, it has been hard on Jesus to allow you to experience this.
You want what He wants for you even though some things are hard to be understood.
When your spirit cries out that it is hurting is when you are infinitely closer to Him than when you are self confidently existing in your own control.
You revel in anticipation of His great blessings and rewards which await you. It is awfully difficult to image how unfulfilled your life would be without Him guiding you through the thoughts and plans he has for you. There is no way to humanly understand the treasures He will pour into your life through this.

Hate Speech

I wonder if this will someday be considered Hate Speech:

If you hate me because I do not think you are right, then hate me. Hate chews at the inside of the hater and often has no impact on the hated.

Do you hate the color of my skin because it is different from yours? Do you hate my belief in a singular omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent creator God?

Do you hate me for my insistence that there is a heaven and a hell, a right and a wrong, and a consequence for every choice? Continue reading →

I Remember

Eleven years ago I held the hand of a dying man. He was a friend and he was gone before that morning was over. I watched on television as less than a thousand miles away an airplane impacted the buildings where several other friends were working. They and many of their coworkers were gone before that morning was over.  I prayed for peace and understanding. I comforted my wife and family at the loss of our friend. I wondered how I could help the families of my friends who died so far away. All before that morning was over. Continue reading →
